A source close to Premier League Central confirms that despite reports in the last week suggesting Christian Pulisic could leave Chelsea, the Blues do not intend on selling the American.
Speaking on his ‘Here We Go’ podcast, Fabrizio Romano has suggested that Pulisic could leave Stamford Bridge at the end of the season.
There is no denying that the former Borussia Dortmund winger hasn’t been playing as much as he’d like with Frank Lampard’s dismissal and the arrival of Thomas Tuchel bringing a shakeup of the Chelsea squad.
Yet despite his lack of game time, Pulisic is committed to fighting for his place at Chelsea, according to a source close to Premier League Central. The same source has brought us several inside stories recently.
The 2020/21 season has been far from ideal as far as Pulisic is concerned. A calf strain, a hamstring injury, a muscle injury and COVID-related quarantine has seen him miss 14 games, totalling 111 days on the sideline.
That coupled with the managerial turmoil at the London club this season means that Pulisic has hardly been primed for a sustained period of form. Despite Romano suggesting that the 22-year-old is considering his future, the fact remains that Pulisic is desperate to make his Chelsea career a success.
In 1075 Premier League minutes this season, Pulisic has scored just 2 goals and assisted 1 other. This output has seen him sit on the bench a lot when he has been fit and with Calum Hudson-Odoi in good form, the United States winger will need to start performing to earn a spot in Tuchel’s side.
The key thing to note, according to our source, is that Pulisic is keen to stay at Chelsea and that the club is keen to keep him.
