Manchester United grow closer and closer to missing out on priority signings Jadon Sancho and Alex Telles as Ed Woodward refuses to pay the requested fees.
The Red Devils lost their first game of the 2020/21 Premier League campaign as they slumped to a 3-1 defeat against Crystal Palace.
Sources close to Premier League Central say that Borussia Dortmund and Porto are growing more and more frustrated with the English giants with the Portuguese outfit close to telling Ed Woodward they will not be selling to them.
There’s no hiding the fact that United are keen on Telles but they are shying away from Porto’s €40m valuation of the fullback, with Ed Woodward refusing to pay any more than €19.6million.
With the United Chief Executive lowballing the Liga Nos outfit by over €20m, we understand that Porto are frustrated with Woodward and are growing closer and closer to ending negotiations over Telles.
This reluctance to spend stems from United’s recent poor track record in the transfer market which saw them exploited by Leicester City in their efforts to sign Harry Maguire last summer, ending up paying a world record £80m fee for a defender.
Then there’s Sancho.
Sancho dazzled for Borussia Dortmund as they beat Borussia Mönchengladbach 3-0 in the Bundesliga, with WhoScored awarding him a 8.14 rating for his role in the convincing win on Saturday.
Dortmund are demanding €120million for their young superstar and with United looking to pressurise the Germans into lowering their asking price, sources close to Premier League Central claim they will miss out on the forward this summer.
This will be music to the ears of Liverpool supporters as there is the feeling the Anfield outfit will make a move for Sancho next summer if one of Mohamed Salah or Sadio Mane leave the club.
