Five Liverpool players likely to leave this summer

Despite the Premier League taking an unprecedented break, the transfer window is fast approaching and players like Adam Lallana will be out of contract come midnight on June 1st.

Two other players are set to be out of contract with the reds and speculation suggests they will be offloading some key names at some point this year.

We break down the top five players likely to move on from the reds, in what is likely to be a title-winning season.

Even though it was a fairytale start to life at Liverpool, goalkeeper Adrian has been suspect to mistakes this season and is far from the calibre a Liverpool goalkeeper should be.

Despite his contract expiring in 2021, Jurgen Klopp will surely look for a stronger replacement for arguably the best goalkeeper in the world in Alisson Becker.

Nathaniel Clyne

The former England full-back has played 77 games but is one of few to be out of contract this summer. Despite joining a strong Liverpool side in 2015, Clyne failed to get a look in for Jurgen Klopp with Trent Alexander-Arnold dominating the right-back position in recent years.

Dejan Lovren

While Lovren has had some incredible moments in a Liverpool shirt, the Reds have strong competition for the centre back position with Van Dijk, Gomez and Matip all picking up more games in a potential title-winning campaign. Liverpool are also linked with signing Kalidou Koulibaly this summer which could further impact Lovren’s future at Anfield.

Xherdan Shaqiri

It’s obvious Shaqiri wasn’t going to be a true game-changer for Liverpool but the two-time Champions League winner has provided more than enough when called upon.

Despite making an impact in huge games such as the 4-0 victory over Barcelona, the Swiss attacker has already seen Takumi Minamino introduced at Anfield while the Reds are also linked with Timo Werner and Milot Rashica.

Adam Lallana

It’s tough to see Lallana extending his contract at Anfield with the English midfielder picking up just 40 appearances in the last three years. Prior to that, Lallana had a 31 game and eight goal season with the Reds, having found the net just once since then. Lallana recently turned 32 and will surely be on the lookout for more game time with time fading on his career.

With other big names such as Gini Wijlandum and Divock Origi linked with an Anfield departure, it’s sure to be a huge summer for Liverpool in the ever so likely event they will be holding on to a Premier League title.
