Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is one of the finest strikers on the planet. However, the one thing he’s never done is move to a major European superclub.
The Gabonese is the perfect modern forward, able to play across the front line, pacey, and a lethal finisher. However, he has never won a league title or a European trophy. For a player as ludicrously talented as him, this is incredible.
His only honours are a French cup with Saint Etienne as well as a pair of Super Cups and a German Cup win at Borussia Dortmund. Since cementing himself as one of the world’s finest strikers, Aubameyang’s been linked with big moves around Europe’s top clubs.
While Liverpool, Manchester United and Juventus have all been held up as destinations, but it’s Spain he seems to yearn for.
It’s been well documented that Aubameyang has been not so subtly flirting with Real Madrid over recent years. The Gabonese has claimed the Spanish side is the “club of his heart.”

He also claims he told his grandfather that he would eventually play for the Bernabeu side. It now looks, however, that his time for a move to a super club may have passed.
Aubameyang at 31 looks to be too old to move to the club of his dreams.
At only a year younger than Karim Benzema, from a financial perspective, the transfer doesn’t make sense. He’s also been linked to Barcelona, but with the coronavirus affecting the market, it’d be impractical moving for the 31-year-old.
Other clubs have been reportedly eyeing Aubameyang, including Inter Milan, but they’re by no means guaranteed silverware. While he would be an excellent short term option for any club, he represents poor value for money in this market.
However, if his big move doesn’t happen soon, it looks as if it may not happen at all.
