Manchester United may turn their attention to Watford winger Ismaila Sarr if they fail in their bid for Jadon Sancho.
According to the Daily Mail, Manchester United had previously ruled out a move for Sarr.
However, with the transfer window closing on October 5th, has their stance on a move for the 22-year old now changed?
The Senegalese winger had also attracted interest from the current Premier League Champions Liverpool earlier in the window.
But, Jurgen Klopp decided to make a move for Wolves winger Diogo Jota.
The Championship side value Sarr at around £45 million, as they try to sell their biggest assets after suffering relegation last season.
During last season’s relegation, Ismaila Sarr offered a beacon of hope in his debut season in English football. He managed to register five goals and four assists for a struggling Watford side.
But why would a move for Sarr make sense for Manchester United? We all know the end of the transfer window is fast approaching and a deal for Sancho seems far away. However, the window between the Premier League and EFL clubs does not close until October 16th.
This gives United an extra two weeks to sign Sarr if the Sancho deal does not go through.
The price tag of £45 million may also be tempting for the United hierarchy, with that price being more than half of the £108 million that Dortmund are demanding for Sancho.
All eyes will be on Manchester United next Monday as United fans will be hopeful of at least one more signing. If they fail in that, can United still be in the top four conversation?
