Lampard and Klopp met privately before Liverpool’s 2-0 win over Chelsea

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard and Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp met and made up after their sideline spat last season.

The two head coaches had something of a shouting match in the dugouts at Anfield, with Lampard accusing Liverpool players and staff of being too arrogant after being named Premier League champions.

Sources close to Premier League Central have revealed that Lampard and Klopp met at Stamford Bridge before the two sides took the pitch on Sunday afternoon. Following the incident back in July, the Chelsea legend admitted he was embarrassed about his behaviour.

“Yeah, I did regret that,” he told The High Performance Podcast in August. “I definitely didn’t mean any disrespect to Jurgen Klopp, because I’ve got huge admiration for them. But what I felt had gone on, it was an impulse reaction.”

He went on to say that he intended to make things right, adding: “I will happily – when I do see him – will put that one right.

“But also I care about my job, and it came out in the wrong way. And even I explained that to my daughters when I got home. And I’ll be brutally honest, it’s not the first time that they’ve heard it from me in the wrong moment.

Premier League Central can now report that Lampard and Klopp have indeed met and made up, with both managers apologising to each other.

On Sunday, Chelsea made a difficult job virtually impossible as Andreas Christensen rugby tackled Sadio Mane when he was through on goal resulting in a straight red card.

Lampard was visibly frustrated with the way the game panned out as Thiago Alcantara made his debut for the Reds, helping them dominate Chelsea.
