Liverpool eye up Jadon Sancho

Liverpool are said to be monitoring Jadon Sancho and his transfer situation at Borussia Dortmund.

The Reds are considering challenging arch-rivals Manchester United in moving for the winger.

Miguel Delaney of The Independent reports that funds could be made available if Jurgen Klopp wants to make a move.

However, Man United are still convinced that they are his most likely destination if he leaves Germany this summer.

Liverpool may look to strike if they can get a transfer sum together and if United miss out on Champions League football.

Sancho is one of football’s top prospects.

The 20-year-old has 17 goals and 16 assists in 27 appearances this season.

He is the only player to have registered over 15 goals and assists in Europe’s top five leagues this season.

A place for him at Anfield?

This news will surely come as a surprise to Liverpool fans.

The news has recently broken that they will not pay Timo Werner’s release clause, as the German will sign for Chelsea.

So, while this means that there is space for an incoming forward, the club was not expected to have the finances to make any big moves this year.

However, if the reports that funds will be made available are true, it is incredibly exciting for Reds fans.

Sancho and Werner are at a similar level as it stands, but the Englishman is widely believed to have bigger potential in the long run.

Liverpool are in need of front three cover and Sancho could provide an ideal option.

He could rotate with both wingers, or play on the right of a 4-2-3-1 with Mo Salah up top.

Best for Sancho?

Sancho’s talent is simply immense.

To be producing the numbers he does at his age is frankly unbelievable. This means that he will likely have his pick of Europe’s top clubs.

United have long been linked with the former Man City academy player, and he would complete a dangerous front three at Old Trafford.

The question remains over the Red Devil’s future, however.

They look set to finish outside the top four again.

While City’s European ban means that United could get Champions League football by finishing in fifth place, nothing is set in stone yet.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is not a proven, world-class manager, so working under him may not be the best option to advance Sancho’s career.

Jurgen Klopp, on the other hand, is one of the world’s best coaches. He is sure to improve the Englishman’s game to insane levels.

So it is a question of what Sancho wants.

United can offer higher wages. They can offer a team built around him. He would also be a guaranteed starter week in, week out.

At Liverpool, he has a better chance of improving as a player and winning more trophies.

However, he may have to be content with being eased into the starting lineup.

Whatever happens, this will surely be one of the summer’s biggest transfer sagas.
