Liverpool are interested in signing one of Yves Bissouma or Eduardo Camavinga as a replacement for Gini Wijnaldum if he leaves in the summer, according to sources close to Premier League Central.
Anfield Central, our Liverpool affiliate in the Football Central Media Group network, reported that Jurgen Klopp is not, in fact, interested in signing Lille star Renato Sanches in the summer despite claims from le10Sport.
Sporting director Michael Edwards has suggested to Klopp, with the use of data analysis, that Bissouma and Camavinga are ideally suited to replacing Gini if he ultimately decides to leave Liverpool.
Bissouma has proven himself in the Premier League and, at 24 years of age, is the perfect age for Liverpool’s recruitment strategy. His terms with Brighton expires in June 2023 so now is a good time to approach the Seagulls about him breaking his contract to join the Reds.
He wouldn’t cost a fortune, has Premier League experience and is still young as far as midfielders are concerned.
Camavinga, on the other hand, is the riskier but more exciting option. At just 18 years of age, he represents a major risk especially given that he has never played in the Premier League.
He would also cost an arm and a leg, with Real Madrid closing in on a €50million move for the teenager, according to AS.
Liverpool’s next move all depends on whether or not Wijnaldum can come to an agreement with the Premier League champions or not.
He is currently waiting to see what other clubs can offer him in January as he is free to talk to overseas clubs ahead of a potential summer Bosman move.
