We reported on the 12th of October that Tottenham were tracking RB Leipzig’s Marcel Sabitzer and Fabrizio Romano has now confirmed this but states there is nothing new to report.
In October, we reported that Spurs were tracking the 26-year-old and had been for several weeks already.
In all competitions last season, Sabitzer scored 16 times and laid 11 goals on for his RBL teammates, according to Transfermarkt. This output would likely take a hit in the Premier League but his 7 goal contributions in 9 Champions League games proves that he’s not just benefitting from playing in the Bundesliga.
Romano reports that there is nothing new to inform Spurs fans on and that there aren’t any advanced talks between the club and Sabitzer or between Tottenham and RB Leipzig.
The only new information Premier League Central can provide is that Arsenal, Manchester City and Juventus are interested in the midfielder.
His contract ends in 2022 but it would take over €50million to sign him in January as RBL are totally against losing their captain after beating Manchester United to progress to the knockout stages of the Champions League.
As I wrote in October, his strengths are undoubtedly his ability to knit play together even while under pressure and when you couple that with his vision and ability to keep the ball when being tightly marked, you get the archetype no.10 in a Mourinho system.
