News broke on Monday night regarding the future of Paris St Germain centre back and captain Thiago Silva.
French outlet L’Equipe reported that Silva had received a phone call from Sporting Director Leonardo to talk about his future. The call was to tell Silva that he would not be offered a new deal at Le Parc des Princes.
Silva’s contract will now expire on June 30th calling an end to his eight year’s in the French capital. In those eight years, he has won seven Ligue 1 titles and four Coupe de France titles.
Another French outlet RMC have reported that Silva will, however, sign a short extension to play remaining games. This is due to PSG beating Dortmund in Champions League before the lockdown. UEFA officials will meet to discuss these dates.
With the Brazilian becoming a free agent 90min have reported Arsenal, Everton, Newcastle, West Ham and Wolves are interested.
A move to Everton would see Silva link back up Carlo Ancelotti. The Italian was the manager at PSG when Silva moved from AC Milan in 2012. The Toffees are a team on the up under Ancelotti, adding Silva on a free could see them rise even higher.
Meanwhile, a move to Arsenal would see him link up with another familiar face in fellow Brazilian CB David Luiz. Due to the financial repercussions of the coronavirus, Arsenal will be forced to look at loan or free-agent deals.
The experience he would bring to young centre backs in Rob Holding and William Saliba may prove to be vital as well.
The Brazilian centre back who been capped 88 times will have plenty of admirers around the world. Silva is still showing he can perform at the highest level so would a move to the Premier League be the most tempting?
